“And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you GOOD NEWS OF A GREAT JOY that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

For years people talked about this rescue that was coming. No one knew when exactly, but the people of Israel had been waiting…eagerly anticipating the coming of their rescuing King. For hundreds and thousands of years, they waited… in darkness for the Light to be revealed.
Then, in the darkness of the night an angel appeared proclaiming good news of a great joy that had come for all the people. Finally, the Savior, Christ the Lord had come to rescue His people from darkness and bring them into His kingdom of light. Finally, the Savior has come to bring life where there was death. What good news! Good news that brings great joy!
May we be reminded that we too were waiting in darkness. We too were in need of rescue from the King. And we too have been the recipients of good news – that Jesus Christ has come to rescue us from darkness and give us a new life of great joy!!
Prayer this week: that God would overwhelm us with the joy of His good news!
