The disciples, wanting to learn from Jesus and learn to be like Jesus, asked Him one of the greatest questions we could ever ask, “Teach us how to pray?”
Jesus said, “Pray then like this:
‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, you will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'” Matthew 6:9:13
As we begin the week, let’s remember, “Prayer is the work.” When we stop to pray – individually, as families, as small groups – we are doing the work of ministry. Often times we think of prayer as a passive activity to introduce or conclude the work we want to do for the Lord. But when we pray like this, to our holy and great Father, we are asking His kingdom to come and will be done in and around us. We are tapping into the greatest resource available to see lives changed for His glory.
May we labor in prayer together to the glory of God! As small groups, spend time praying this prayer together, using it as a guide for how to pray.
Prayer this week: that we would be faithful and diligent in prayer to our Father, knowing that He desires to give good gifts.
I love you guys. Press on!
