Trust is defined as a firm belief in the reliability of someone or something. Trust is truly an element out of any relationship that’s of great significance since it pertains to one’s own credibility, character, reputation, along with ability. The bottom line is that there can’t be any true relationship and friendship without at least some level of trust. Having said that, one thing that’s quite noticeable within Scripture is the fact that trust is something that God demands from us.
Let’s read these Scripture verses found in Proverbs chapter 3.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).”
Before we move on, it’s important that we take a look at trust from a humanistic perspective. Let’s say that you’ve been doing all your best to let God mold you into the person that He wants you to be through complete submission and surrender to Him, and for whatever reason someone else just cannot trust you with something, it’s undoubtedly going to hurt you. The main reason is that you’d feel like that’s not representative at all of whom you are in Christ.
Nevertheless, the truth is that the same thing also applies to God to a much greater extent. God has presented Himself in His Word as someone who has an absolute integrity (Numbers 23:19). God is above everything and every weaknesses that we’re predisposed to as humans due to our fallen nature. When we cannot trust God, His heart is torn apart because it’s tantamount to us telling Him that He’s not trustworthy irrespective of whom He boldly claims Himself to be.
Trust and faith are pretty much the same thing. To have faith in God is to trust Him. In other words, trust is the essence of faith. This clearly explains the reason why without faith it’s impossible to please God according to (Hebrews 11:6). If you don’t have faith in God, it’s equivalent to you not willing to trust Him which doesn’t honor whom God really is. God wants us to exercise the utmost level of trust into Him; a level of faith that’s compatible with whom He is as the all-powerful God. Thereby, that’s what it means to trust Him with all our hearts.
Trusting God also means relying on whom God declares Himself to be within His Word. You do that by allowing His Word which is a direct reflection of whom God is to decide your own viewpoint regarding life’s issues. You look at things through the lens of God’s own divine perspective. No matter how bad things may get, you look at them in the context that there’s still hope. Even if God doesn’t intervene as you want Him to do so, you can still find great comfort in knowing that He’s still in control no matter what happens. Lastly, problems will always surface in this life; however, as Christians we should not live our lives in such a desperate manner as those who have no relationship with God.
Instead of us allowing things like fear, doubt, worry, and unbelief to pull us downward like a strong gravity force to a position far below to where God wants us to be, let’s rise above that by trusting God. The point is that we can never go wrong by trusting God since our trust in Him is a remedy to all the negativities that surround our lives.
Thanks so much for sharing Arold!
