“For the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan for you until you passed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up for us until we passed over, so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is mighty, that you may fear the Lord your God forever.”
– Joshua 4:23-24
I love that time and time again throughout Scripture, God is kind enough to us to remind us of who He is. In these specific verses, God is reminding His people that He is mighty, that He can and does the what seems to be the impossible. Jeremiah writes something similar,
“Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you” (32:17). I don’t know about you, but I tend to slip back into my logical, rational thinking. If it doesn’t make sense to me, or if it seems to difficult to me, surely it’s not going to really happen. BUT, our God’s thoughts are much higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). And His might is certainly much greater than ours. I haven’t parted a river or sea anytime recently. You?
Our Lord is mighty and great! And He wants to do great things among us for His glory. He is a good Father and desires to give good gifts. Let’s PRAY BIG! Let’s act like children and just believe that God can do amazing things. And then let’s ask Him to do such things.
My prayer for us this week is this: that we would remember that the hand of the Lord is mighty, that nothing is too difficult for our God, and that we would PRAY BIG in response to who He is.
I love you guys. Press on!
