Anchored in Christ While the World Shakes

The news these days feels heavy.

Wars rage on. Economic fears rise. Natural disasters strike. Division and hatred are on full display in every direction you scroll. It feels like the world is coming undone—and maybe in some ways, it is. But while everything around us feels like it’s falling apart, we need to remember something critical:

Jesus never said this world wouldn’t shake.

In fact, He told us exactly what to expect:

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

That verse doesn’t promise us comfort, control, or clarity in this life. But it does promise victory—His victory.

So how do we live faithfully in a world that feels increasingly faithless?

  • We stay rooted in truth.
  • We keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.
  • We trust that God is still sovereign—still good—still working.

In times like these, it’s easy to fall into fear or frustration. Maybe you’re exhausted from the chaos. Maybe you’re wondering where God is in the mess. Maybe you’re trying to explain it to your kids while silently asking God the same questions yourself.

Let me encourage you with this: God is not distant. He is present. He is with you. And He has not changed.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

If everything else crumbles—our security, our jobs, our plans, our sense of normal—He still remains.

When the disciples were caught in a raging storm, Jesus didn’t calm the winds right away. He walked out to them in the storm and said, “Take heart. It is I. Do not be afraid” (Matthew 14:27). That’s what He’s still saying to us now.

What can we do right now?

1. Pray more than we post. Before we react online, let’s respond in prayer.
2. Seek God’s Word daily. Let it shape how we think and what we believe.
3. Be a light. Fear is contagious—but so is faith. Let’s be known for peace and compassion.
4. Point people to Jesus. He’s not just our hope—He’s the hope for the world.

I don’t know what next week’s news will say. But I do know what God’s Word already says:

“Therefore we will not fear, though the earth gives way…” Psalm 46:2

Friend, you were not made to carry the weight of the world. Jesus already did.
Lean into Him. Trust Him. Follow Him boldly—even now.

He’s still writing the story.
And His promises still stand.

Let’s live open-handed in a world that holds tight. Let’s follow Jesus no matter the storm.
