“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.” – 2 Corinthians 8:9
When I read this verse, I often times think of the book “Same Kind of Different As Me,” by Ron Hall & Denver Moore. If you have not read this book, I highly encourage you do so. The book is a true story about how a homeless man in downtown Fort Worth, Denver Moore, is introduced to the extravagant & life changing grace of Jesus through an extremely wealthy couple – Ron & Debbie Hall. Denver is poor to say the least. He has no hope, no joy and nothing his own except that which he has found or stolen on the streets. However, that all changes as Denver finds a treasure beyond all wealth – Jesus Christ!
Denver now says when asked to be introduced, “Just tell em I’m a nobody that’s tyrin to tell everybody ’bout Somebody that can save anybody.” The grace of Jesus has changed his life!
My prayer for us this week: May God cause us to realize that we were just like Denver Moore – filthy poor, without hope and without true joy – but that Jesus in His love took our poverty and freely gave us His immeasurable wealth. And may this grace, this free gift, cause us nobodies to tell everybody about the Somebody who can save anybody.
I love you guys. Press on!
