“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and faithfulness!” Psalm 115:1
“and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, but as it is written,
‘Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.'” Romans 15:20-21
As we saw in the book of Acts, Paul had a pattern of sending and being sent. What’s been encouraging and challenging to me is why Paul was compelled to live this way.
“To preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named.”
Paul’s motivation for sending others out and for being sent out himself was that God’s glory and fame would increase as more and more were introduced to the person of Jesus Christ, the gospel! The reason people moved was for none other than the mission of God. What a great reminder – “Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory.” For God’s name and for His glory is why we labor. What a worthwhile cause!
Prayer this week: that we would be motivated by God’s glory to seek His kingdom expansion!
I am incredibly excited for how God is going to move through us and around us.
I love you guys. Press on!
