Have you ever wanted to see God come through in amazing ways? Ever prayed to see Him at work in a situation before? Have you ever thought if God could just give you a sign…that you’d be more encouraged or would trust Him more?
In my little bit of experience in being a follower of Christ (only a little over a decade now), I’ve come to realize there are so many ways to see God at work, even down to the penny….but typically that only happens through obedience.
Let me explain.
I’ve been walking with someone over the years and teaching them how to glorify God with their money and with budgeting. Giving every dollar a job and “telling your money” what to do is a way we can steward well what God has given us. As you go through this process you know how you are tithing, how you are saving, and how you are spending.
That same person had extra bills come into play not too long ago and knew through the budgeting process they were going to be short $23.98.
What happened next was truly remarkable.
They got their mail, and inside was a check….for $23.98! Exactly to the penny.
The check was for some rebate that came to them that they had no idea about. Now here is the interesting part. Imagine if this was you….chances are without budgeting and wanting to steward what God has given you…you’d just think “oh sweet, bonus money in the form of $23.98,” but if you were budgeting and being obedient to what God has given you, this is so much more. It speaks volumes to exactly how God provided, down to the last penny.
The incredible fact of this is I believe God is doing this all around us, all the time. However, I think a lot of us (including me) miss out on exactly what God is doing because we don’t take notice. We don’t see Him at work even though we want to. We miss out on the signs He is giving us even though we always want signs from Him. Without obedience, we can’t see how God is working and providing for us. But, when we are being obedient, we have the chance to specifically see exactly what He is doing.
Imagine if we took notice of just how much God is working around us, how much that would encourage us and remind us He is right here with us. I bet that would spur us on to read the Bible, pray, and share our faith a lot more than what we probably do.
So then, how can we see God more and more? Through obedience.
Just Get Started
Don’t let it be overwhelming. Obedience doesn’t equate to perfection. It doesn’t mean you have to have everything together, but rather you just have to get started.
- Read The Bible Daily
- Pray Daily
- Reflect on The Gospel Daily and Look For Ways to Share
Those things right there would probably not even take you more than 15 minutes to do each day. Might be more and it might be less, but nevertheless, it gets you started. I believe the battle is in the basics for those who follow Jesus. Satan knows he can’t take away our salvation, but he sure can try to make us ineffective and the primary way he keeps us ineffective is to attack us at the basics.
The battle is in the basics for those who follow Jesus.
If we don’t do those basics mentioned above, we can’t be obedient.
If our love for Christ increases each day through those acts, we’ll have no choice but to be obedient, which will then translate to us seeing God at work with us each and everyday. Be encouraged today that God is in fact at work and cares for you, even down to the penny.
