Putting Truth In Tax Season

It’s that time of year. Today marks Tax Day and many will rush to file their taxes or an extension. For those that planned ahead, they can enjoy the news footage of those cramming the post office.

Some will enjoy refunds and others will have to bite their lip as they put a check in the mailbox or press submit on that bank draft.

So whether Uncle Sam has offered you a bite or taken a piece, be assured, everything still belongs to God.

It did yesterday. It does today. It will tomorrow.

For those who belong to Him, we can always rest assured He has us covered, whether money is coming in or going out.

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. – Matthew 6:31-32

If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! – Matthew 7:11

Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why put me to the test, you hypocrites? Show me the coin for the tax.” And they brought him a denarius. And Jesus said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” They said, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” – Matthew 22:17-21

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. – Romans 5:1-21

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:19

What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. – James 4:1-2

Whether you are financially fed up on Tax Day or raising the roof on a ridiculous refund, take time to pause and thank God for his provision that comes in His omnipotent timing.

Please share your praises with us! Hopefully, other readers will find it encouraging.
