I don’t know about you, but sometimes around the Christmas season I get pretty overwhelmed with so many things going on. Shopping, parties, wrapping things up before the end of the year, decorating, seeing families and friends, and all at the same time…trying to remember and celebrate the real reason behind Christmas.
Remember Him, who for our sake lived, died, and rose again. #Jesus
I’ve noticed how much more often these days I’m really needing to drown out the noise and just look to the Bible for what God has to say. Christmas should be no different. I’d encourage you to look at the Bible with me to center yourself back on the real reason behind Christmas.
I’m not saying doing any of those things above is bad…they can be great…but not at the expense of forgetting how Jesus came and what Jesus has done for us. Remember that with me this year. Remember Him, who for our sake lived, died, and rose again.
Here is what the Bible has to say with scripture on Christmas:
Luke 2:10-11 – And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Isaiah 7:14 – Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Isaiah 9:6 – For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
1 John 5:11 – And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
Matthew 2:10 – When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
Matthew 1:21 – She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.
Luke 2:14 – Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!
Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
James 1:17 – Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
Romans 15:13 – May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
Philippians 2:8-11 – And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
