Scripture on Parenting

Scripture on Parenting - Dad Walking with Son

Whether someone has just been introduced to parenting for the first time with a brand new baby, or they have full grown kids and are now grandparents, it seems like most of them would tell you there is always room for growth and to learn. In my limited experience once we feel like we got the hang of something, then immediately we find ourselves in a clueless situation.

As believers, God has given us an amazing opportunity to raise children in a way that will glorify Him and make much of Christ. Here is some Scripture on Parenting:

Proverbs 20:7 – The righteous who walks in his integrity— blessed are his children after him!

Deuteronomy 4:40 – Therefore you shall keep his statutes and his commandments, which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for all time.

Proverbs 22:6 – Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 29:17 – Discipline your son, and he will give you rest; he will give delight to your heart.

Proverbs 29:15 – The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.

Isaiah 54:13 – All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 – And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

Proverbs 17:6 – Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers.

Proverbs 13:22 – A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the sinner’s wealth is laid up for the righteous.

Genesis 18:19 – For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.
