I don’t know about you but I think God works a lot of times in us through seasons. Seasons of busyness. Seasons of difficulties. Seasons of prosperity. Seasons of excitement. Seasons of loss. And the list goes on.
Lately I’ve been in one of the craziest seasons I can remember in awhile with so many things going on, our church, 121 Community Church, moving new to a brand new building, celebrating Easter, and reflecting on things that matter the most…and all of this seems to have happened at the exact same time.
I remember specifically walking through 121 for the very last time. No one was there. Nothing was left. Not only was it a little emotional because of such history happening there, but something happened at that moment. It was if God stopped me in my tracks while looking down the empty hallway and said, “this…..this is what life is about……..this is how fast life goes……..now that you see this, what do you think really matters?
And I immediately knew the answer…
God’s Glory and His People.
You see, I could hear the people…I could see them walking the hallway…laughing, talking, crying, praying, life was happening in that building, but now nothing was there. It was all gone. That life will never take place ever again in that building the way it did before. And when you think about it, this is a real picture wherever we are.
Wherever you are today, look around, what do you see? Buildings? Hallways? Design? Architecture? Technology? Landscaping? Advertisements?
Or do you see people….relationships….opportunities to love others….eternal investments that God has called you to pour into instead of temporary ones?
Everything we see will pass away. There’s a time and place for everything. What will be left at the end of the day is God and His people, that’s it. Nothing else.
Jesus has called us to living a life without walls. To live a life for eternity.
So how do we live a life for eternity? Jesus has given us the answer.
“This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent—Jesus Christ.” – John 17:3
Jesus Himself is the answer. Jesus is our answer. Jesus is the one worth living for. Jesus gives us life without walls. Jesus will never be silent, never be empty, will never move on, but will always be alive, be present, and provide complete satisfaction. Do you know Him today?
One thing for sure is that I know this picture will stick with me. I’ll never forget it. I never want to forget what life is really about. I never want to get so busy with my day that I forget Jesus. I never want to miss out on what truly matters most.
Jesus provides us salvation and eternal life without walls.
