I think one of the things that isn’t talked about the most among Christians is spiritual warfare. Sometimes I think it comes across “too spiritual” or maybe we don’t know enough about it, or it’s quite possible…we don’t really believe it’s a big deal at all. While we are all sinners, living in a sinful world, we are going to have many problems due to sin, but at the same time, we are often attacked by the enemy.
The Bible talks about our enemy quite a bit (1 Peter 5:8, 1 John 3:8, 2 Corinthians 11:14, John 8:44, James 4:7, 2 Corinthians 11:3) so if we believe in scripture being the very word of God, we would do well to take all matters seriously, including the evil one.
Have you ever noticed when you go to spend time with The Lord, distractions happen? What about random thoughts that just pop in your head out of nowhere? Have you experienced conflict with others? The examples could go on and on and I can’t tell you 100% they are all from our enemy, but from what scripture says about him, it would seem obvious that we are at war and we are to take it seriously.
The good news is that the Bible is clear on just how much God loves us and just how much God has and will protect us for all eternity from the evil one. Jesus defeated sin and death by dying on the cross and rising again from the grave. Yes, we will have daily battles, but take heart…Jesus has overcome the world and the war is already won.
No matter where you find yourself today or whatever it is you are going through, here is what the Bible has to say with scripture on protection:
Psalm 55:22 – Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Psalm 32:7 – You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance.
Psalm 37:28 – For the Lord loves justice; he will not forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.
John 16:33 – I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
Christian, take heart, Jesus has overcome the world and the war is already won.
Psalm 91:14-15 – Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.
Deuteronomy 33:27 – The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. And he thrust out the enemy before you and said, ‘Destroy.’
2 Samuel 22:31 – This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
1 John 5:18 – We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him.
Proverbs 2:7-8 – He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints.
Psalm 145:20 – The Lord preserves all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.
2 Thessalonians 3:3 – But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
