If you’re anything like me you love it when progress is being made. There’s nothing better then checking things off of your to-do list and having a sense of accomplishment. You simply watch your tasks disappear! Even typing about that feeling right now is making me feel calm!
However, is growing as a follower of Christ always measurable? As much as I want to say “unfortunately” no I’m learning more and more that the better answer to that question is “fortunately” no.
Our family is in the middle of some big transitions. You can see our latest announcement here and as you can guess it, working multiple jobs, while planning to move to a new city, can take quite a toll. Don’t get me wrong…I’m LOVING where God has our family headed, but I’m also being challenged in my faith in terms of what “progress” really means.
While traveling lately to visit some close friends I noticed something while on the plane. In the middle of this storm, this happened…
As you can see, there was zero visibility. How often does it feel like we can’t see anything? Where we can’t see progress happening? When we go through a trial and have a lot of questions?
There are times God doesn’t provide us clarity and I think that’s for a reason. He wants our trust. He wants our hearts. He wants us to fully put our faith in Him. If we believe Jesus died for us and paid the penalty for all our past, present, and future sins…then how is it that we so easily forget to trust Him in the trials of everyday life?
While on the plane, the trip was rough, but then something else happened…
We take these moments and these views for granted. Look at it again.
Look at just how amazing and how big God is. And then think about just how small our trial is VS eternity with God.
His ways and His thoughts are always higher and better than ours. (Isaiah 55:8-9)
Our God is in the heavens; He does all that He pleases. (Psalm 115:3)
God can provide clarity at a moments notice. God can bring us out of the storm in seconds. He is in control and He is good. We must remember this when we can’t see. We must remember this when we are going through hard times. And we must remember that God is always making progress with us even when we don’t think anything is happening.
Be reminded today to keep trusting The Lord even when you can’t see.
Amen for a blessed read that is educational, helpful and very insightful. Thank you for sharing your blessings with the rest of us.
Absolutely, thanks so much for sharing Brandon! Really appreciate the encouragement!
Awesome Post. I have been in the growth of trust in God to handle things. I have been unemployed since February, and amazingly my wife’s furniture business has had the best sales during the time we started the company.
Wow that’s amazing! Thanks so much for sharing! If we really look at things I believe we can see God providing for us over and over again and not just “coincidences” happening.
