Scripture on Assurance

Scripture on Assurance

Assurance can be defined as “a positive declaration intended to give confidence; a promise.” There’s no doubt when someone has assurance in something…or in someone, it’s very noticeable. That person seems to come across confident while making their declaration. As followers of Jesus, why do you suppose we struggle with assurance?

We are in a real battle as Christ followers and satan would love nothing more than to destroy our confidence in what Jesus has done. Imagine if the Church were to walk with assurance and confidence at all times…what kind of message would that send to the world? I believe it would be contagious and people would constantly be questioning how we can be so sure of something…of someone.

God doesn’t want His children walking around always questioning if they are saved or not. He’s not a cruel God. The simple fact that He sent Jesus alone to pay the penalty for all our sins proves that He is not a cruel God, but in fact, a loving God. As Christians, we should read the Bible, pray, and know with confidence we are saved…not because of our opinion, but because of what Jesus has done. Walk in confidence today!

When we are sure of our salvation, we proclaim confidence in our Savior.

Here is what the Bible has to say with scripture on assurance:

Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Ephesians 1:13-14 – In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

1 John 5:13 – I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.

Romans 8:38-39 – For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Isaiah 54:10 – For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

1 Timothy 3:13 – For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.

John 5:24 – Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

John 10:27-29 – My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.

Romans 8:1 – There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 1:12 – But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to me.

Hebrews 10:19-22 – Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
