Scripture on Guidance

Scripture on Guidance

We are all looking for direction and guidance. Whether we think we are determining that on our own or we are in desperate need for a path…a purpose…what to do…we often at times need help and are searching for answers.

The simple fact that God sent his Son Jesus to die for us, pay the penalty for our sins, and have Him rise again defeating death and sin in Victory…says something. That same God wouldn’t want His children (followers of Jesus) left without direction. He won’t just let us run wild and not guide us. Typically, the reason we are searching for guidance is because we have taken our eyes off of Jesus.

I’ve learned recently while on a solitude that God was reminding me that if I spend time with Him, everything else will fall into place. It’s when I take my eyes off of Him, that I start to worry…get anxious…get lost…and need guidance back to Him. He asked me to trust Him over and over again that He is the one who establishes the steps of my life as I seek Him first in all things.

Typically, the reason we are searching for guidance is because we have taken our eyes off of Jesus.

Here is what the Bible has to say with scripture on guidance:

Exodus 15:13 – You have led in your steadfast love the people whom you have redeemed; you have guided them by your strength to your holy abode.

John 14:26 – But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

Psalm 32:8 – I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

Psalm 23:2-3 – He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Psalm 37:23-24 – The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.

Isaiah 30:21 – And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.

Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Isaiah 58:11 – And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

Psalm 139:9-10 – If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.

Isaiah 42:16 – And I will lead the blind in a way that they do not know, in paths that they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I do, and I do not forsake them.
