The dictionary defines Faith as “a complete trust or confidence in someone or something or a strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.” We say things like “you just need to have faith” or “keep the faith”, but do we know what it really is? Let’s look to the Word of God to find our answer.
Here is what the Bible has to say with Scripture on Faith:
Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
1 Peter 1:21 – Who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
1 Peter 1:8 – Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory.
1 Timothy 4:9-10 – The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance. For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.
Psalm 33:22 – Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.
Romans 4:3 – For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.”
Romans 5:1 – Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
John 14:12 – Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
Matthew 17:20 – He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
