We Are Victors, Not Victims

We Are Victors, Not Victims

I want to be careful on how I write this post because I never want to come across with a lack of empathy or compassion towards others. We live in a fallen and broken world and are often victims of sin that is committed towards us. It happens to us and sometimes it involves us committing sins towards others too.

So I never want to brush past the reality of our broken world and just how much sin can hurt us. No matter of the situation you find yourself in today, I am truly sorry for what has happened to you. I’m sorry for the tears you’ve shed, the pain you’ve felt, the struggles you’ve had in your life. However, I also want to encourage you in something.

The enemy never lets down, he is always on the loose and prowling around telling you lies while seeking to destroy you. He will tell you that you are a victim…..he will tell you just how bad you are or just how bad the situation is that you are in…he will tell you there’s no hope….he will say everything he can to bring you down and to distract you from the truth.

The truth is, you are a Victor, not a victim.

A Victor is defined as “a person who defeats an enemy or opponent in a battle, game, or other competition.”

Have you defeated the enemy? Have you won the war? No you haven’t…but Jesus has and that fact alone makes you a victor. He gives us the victory.

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 15:57

“For the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.” – Deuteronomy 20:4

Once we realize and remember we are victors and not victims, life begins to look a little differently. Sin still stings and hurts, but we can move on past sin and towards Christ because we have the victory. We won’t be condemned and stuck in our past, but can confidently move forward in our new future of freedom.

“For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.” – Romans 6:14

You have value. You have purpose. You have skills. You have abilities. You have courage. You have confidence. Most of all, you have love.

The fact that Jesus died for you on the cross says it all. That speaks volumes to you on just how much He actually loves you. He died for all your past, present, and future sins. No sin is too great for Him.

Chances are because of your past and your experience with love, this is hard to believe, but the difference is the One who died for you…the One who calls your name is Jesus Christ, the son of God. He is perfect, sinless, and cares for you more than anyone ever could. To the point that nothing can ever separate you from the love of Christ.

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39

Where are you today?

No matter what you are going through remember you are a Victor, and not a victim.

The Holy Spirit revealed this to me today. You are not a Victim. But a Victor. Do you not know you are the daughter of the Most High???

Amen! This is a truth all Christians need to learn, and develop a victor mentality, rather than a victim mentality.
