“Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices.” – Colossians 3:9
As Christians, we know that when we lie, we are living out our “old self,” meaning life before Christ. Does that mean we will never lie after we have trusted in Christ? Absolutely not.
That would be the same as saying we will never sin again after we’ve trusted in Him, and that’s false. We will, and it shows our need for a Savior more and more. Our best way of understanding how to put off our old self is by reading His Word, praying, and after that, application. We will certainly have many opportunities to either act out in our new self, or the old.
Who is someone you have lied to recently? Is there someone you need to confess to today? As opportunities arise today, do not lie to one another, and put off the old self with its practices.
